Chairman | Domnic Slater

(Chairman 2019-Present)

Domnic Slater first walked through the gates of Artane in 1972, at just 8 years of age, to join the then Artane Boys Band. He learned to play trumpet and euphonium under the baton of then conductor Mr Joe Lynch. Domnic made his Croke Park debut in 1974 where he was part of the Band who led the Parade of the Teams for the All Ireland Finals.

As part of his time as a member of the Band he toured the east cost of the United States of America in 1979 prior to his graduation from the Band a year later. In 2008, Domnic returned to Artane to join the Artane Senior Band of which he is still a member to this day.

Domnic was appointed as Chairman of the Artane School of Music Facilities Committee and a Member of the Schools Board of Management in 2008. He played a leading role in the development of the 2013 – 2016 Strategic Plan which saw a massive redevelopment of the Facilities which the current members of the school enjoy.

In April of 2019 Domnic was appointed as Chairman of the Board of the Artane School of Music. It is a position which he is delighted and privileged to hold given his long involvement with Artane.

Domnic is happily married to wife Angela and they have 2 children. He also owns and manages his own construction company.
